Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What areas do you cover

For Dog Home Boarding and daycare you would drop your dog off and pick it up at times convenient to you within our opening hours (opening times 7.30 am to 6.30 pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm Saturdays and Sundays).

For cat visits I work mainly in Tynemouth, Cullercoats and North Shields.

2. Are you insured?

Purfect 4 Pets are fully insured for Public Liability, Accident, Illness, Care Custody and Control and Key Cover.  However we strongly recommend that pet owners have their own insurance cover.  If your dog becomes ill while in my care with an illness not caused by an accident or negligent care, my insurance would not cover this and you would be liable for the veterinary costs.

3 . What happens at the initial consultation?

It gives us the opportunity to meet you and your pet.  It also gives you the opportunity to check our insurance documents, licence and DBS.  I need then to gather information about your pet that might be relevant when I'm looking after him/her and for you to read and agree to the terms and conditions of the service provided.  We may also like to accompany you and your pet on a short walk to see how you handle your pet and how well they walk on/off a leash.  There is no charge for the initial consultation and you are under no obligation to make a booking even if you complete all the appropriate paperwork.

4.  Why do you just look after small and medium sized dogs?

Large dogs need a lot of room and my property is best suited to small to medium sized dogs.  Large dogs can also be very strong and would propbably be best walked one on one.  If possible I try to walk my furry friends together so that they can have some fun.

5.  What do you class as a large dog?

Afghan hound, Newfoundland, Old english sheep dog, Rottweiler, Siberian Husky, German shepherd, Doberman Pinscher, Dog de bordeaux, Bullmastiff, Bloodhound, Alaskan Malamute, Akita, Giant Schnauzer and any large dogs that pull on the lead including larger labs, large poodles and retrievers.

5.  How do I pay?

Payment must be made at the time of booking (minimum 50% deposit or £20 whichever is greater and the balance paid when you drop your dog off or when handing over the keys to your property).  Bookings cannot not be confirmed until the deposit or full payment is received.

6. What legislation must owners abide by?

Control of Dog Order 1992 - states that all dogs while on the public highway dogs must wear a collar with an identity tag with the name and address of the owner.  Visit this site for more details.  http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1992/901/article/2/made
